lippy gloss

lippy
After what was expected to be a quick trip to pick up some dinner, I found myself wandering in downtown for a couple of hours.  While doing so, I stumbled into drugstore heaven C.O. Bigelow.  I explored perfumes, lotions, and even picked up a new lip gloss by Butter London.  Primrose Hill Picnic has now become my new obsession- it's the perfect color that can be paired with a light or smokey eye.  I'm excited to find out if this amazing gloss will win me over- although it will be very difficult to compete with my lip stains!

the nom noms

Once upon a time, a girl went to New York City for two months.  She centered her weekends around exploring diners, bakeries, and locating the best hummus shop around.  Her roommates joined her as she walked blocks for banana split cupcakes and for the discovery of a late-night, local diner.  Au revoir, nom noms! We'll see you next weekend.

LNO: right place, right time

{keegan's clutch, betsey johnson skirt, louboutin heels}
Saturday was a magical day for my shoe closet.  I thought it was just another day of consignment shopping- but I definitely was in the right place, at the right time.  An hour after the (fabulous) previous owner dropped these off, I casually walked into my next shoe romance. Even though they deserved a full-on induction ceremony, the roommates and I decided a night out in Manhattan would suffice (LNO).  Welcome, Loubies!

west broadway

Weeeeeee! I love this city.
 How would you describe my week? By mixing prints and neons. It was amazing insanity.

white + white

{zara dress, BCBG necklace (thank you, alyssa), tory burch chunky-heel, kate spade bag}
I mentioned a few days ago that I was Cheyenne Meets Chanel's new intern.  As her intern, I get to help her research and write videos that she posts on her Qwiki channel- which is SO much fun!  Check out the first video on the White on White trend- it hit the runways and the summer 2012 season hard.  I mixed up this trend Harper's Bazaar style- showcasing the black and white's in my closet with my go-to summer handbag.

Memorial Day Weekend

{sunnies: Urban Outfitters, Dress: boutique in Italy, Belt: J.Crew, Shoes: DV, Bag: YSL}
Memorial Day weekend was filled with sweets, beach time with the family, window shopping, and amazing meals.  I indulged in some serious Japanese cuisine, discovered a dairy-free ice cream parlor, and finished it off with a hummus-filled dinner.  It was the perfect way to jumpstart a fabulous three day weekend!

tea parties with iris

 If you could have a tea party with one person- who would you choose?  As I pondered this question, I immediately thought of Kate Spade's recent blog post on Iris Apfel visiting their NY offices.  Not only  is she a fashionista from my home state of Wisconsin, but Apfel is also a style icon that has influenced the fashion industry tremendously over the years.  If we could take away anything from Iris- it's to pile on the jewelry (hello, arm party), contrast colors, and not be afraid to rock a print. All hail the gorgeous Iris!
{look at that necklace!}

dancing in the subway

{forever 21 dress, anthropologie necklace, j.crew heels}
 Adjusting to subways, New York City traffic, and this rainy week was difficult at first, (first time on the subway to the upper east side took a cool hour and a half...I now do it in fifteen minutes) but I've embraced every single aspect.  A subway ride means people watching, quality iPod time, and fast transportation. Traffic forces you to walk everywhere, so between exploring the city and the fifth floor walk-up...it equals major exercise points. Lastly, the rainy days have taught me how to sprint in platforms and enjoy this romantic city with a cup of coffee.
P.S. A little piece of news- Shea Marie from Cheyenne Meets Chanel has hired me as her intern!  I'm so excited to learn from a huge influence in not only the fashion industry, but in the blogging world as well.  She's fabulous!

hey there, sparkles.

{hanes white tee, tiffany's necklace, chambray button down, j.crew skirt/belt/pumps/watch, YSL bag, vintage bracelets}
 I was totally inspired by a previous blogpost of mine while getting dressed on my third day.  I decided to add a bit of layer with an oversized, white tee.  To dress down the skirt, I paired a tied-up Chambray top and a simple lock necklace.  For a finishing touch, my gold bangles created an arm party with my favorite watch.

My third day was totally insane- I fell even more in love.  I was running around the office all day and even got to sit in on a sales meeting- it was to die for! It's so empowering to see all these women (and our finance guy) work so hard and become so successful. Cheers, ladies!

home sweet manhattan

As I got ready for day two, I decided to bring out the infamous J.Crew Minnie pant.  To add some color, I contrasted an oversized sweater with a structured statement piece.  This green beauty was purchased at a boutique right around the corner from my apartment and I've been crazy about it ever since.

Day two at my internship was absolutely amazing.  A shirtless (Cosmo) model held the door for me- (nothing on you- boo), I sat in on an amazing digital presentation (shirtless man and presentation may have been correlated), and jumped right into some new advertising projects.  Let's just say I'm obsessed and realizing this is truly the right field for me!
P.S. These are my new roomies and I'm absolutely in love with them (and their style)!

Columbus Circle

First Day @ Cosmopolitan

I was unusually calm as I stepped off the subway and joined the rush of people exiting the platform.  Out of a movie, I opened my umbrella and looked up to find my new home- the Hearst Building. My first day was filled with meeting the team and acquainting myself to programs and daily tasks...while breaking in my platforms. (Did I mention learning how to work the elevator?!)

I decided to wear a simple, yet gorgeous green dress from Zara that resembles the Chloe Python dress shown.  I topped it off with my favorite trench coat and layered on some pearl bracelets.  Due to weather I didn't snap a photo of my outfit, but from now on expect daily photos! Met Ball Wins

Warning: Prada killed it Monday night.  Who didn't praise their designs?
Solange Knowles in Rachel Roy.
The Color + Clutch + Peplum = I die.
Diane Kruger in Prada.
Best Dressed of the entire night.  Absolutely love the color, design, and accessories. The best part? This is all her- she doesn't have a stylist.
Kate Bosworth in Prada.
The dress and make-up/hair combo is fabulous.  I love dark lips, especially with this look, but I'm not ready to rock it till Fall 2012.
Coca Rocha in vintage Givenchy.
Mixing old with the new. The pink hair gave this vintage look- originally worn by Elizabeth Taylor- a modern twist that tied the ensemble together.
Anna Wintour in Prada.
Fabulous as always- minus the fur.  Anna, faux fur wouldn't hurt anyone!

Met Monday

Tonight's Met Gala is going to be a dream.  I'm so excited to see the beautiful couture, hairstyles, and shoes that will be rocked on the red carpet. Anna Wintour reportedly insisted that editors wear pink and send in their hairstyles ahead of time to be approved.  A.K.A. Vogue will be the post fabulous part of the night and I'm anxiously awaiting their arrival via live stream.  Happy (Met) Monday!

what we can learn from the ready to wear spring collection:
1. Belt it. Create a silhouette while putting on your favorite dress.
 2. Color! It's summer- incorporate neons with a nail color or accessory.
3. Make it exciting. Even while dawning a simple color, draw attention to an exciting mani/pedi or interesting shoe to spice up an outfit.
4. Purple is back. Always a summer favorite and the perfect way to show off a tan.
5. Lastly, lip color is huge right now. Don't forget to add gloss or make it bold.

menswear: gentleman style

I have an exciting collaboration that was too much fun to do in one post.  Recently, @MarquetteUGent hit the twittersphere and is adored by all his followers.  Here are three essentials for summer, Marquette Gentleman-style.
MU Gent: Sperry Boat Shoes are the most comfortable and versatile shoe I own.  I wear them in the heat of summer and in the frozen Milwaukee winters.  Don't be afraid to rock them with socks in the winter and loafer socks in the summer.  If they start looking rugged with bar-tar, throw them in the wash and let them air dry for a brand-new look.
MU Gent: Bow-ties are perfect for formal or semi-formal events and can be worn with a suit, cardigan, vest or nothing extravagant.  They range from Gingham, to Plaid and solid colors.  I would advise all men to learn how to tie a bow-tie, and to not purchase a pre-tied option. (Cat: how Brad Goreski is that?!)
MU Gent: Coral is making a push this spring, especially in menswear.  These shorts are perfect with a button down, simple t-shirt, or polo.

Stay tuned for more advice by the preppy, anonymous gentlemen on campus!
